چکیده

In progressive pattern, 3GPP has continued to expand and improve capacity of LTE data and control channels especially for downlink transmissions. Among others, the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) was designated in 3GPP LTE release 8 for sending downlink control information (DCI) to user equipment (UE), The DCI message is needed by every UE within the network in order to be served or serviced. The PDCCH make use of limited resource within the control region to perform this function. These resources become scarcer as the number of UEs increase within the network. As such, the PDCCH design becomes crucial to meet continuously increasing demand for ever increasing data transmission. Different designs have led to evolution of PDCCH in stages to suit scenarios and also fit new technologies introduced for LTEAdvanced systems. This article explains the underlying principles of PDCCH and how it has evolved to conform to the requirements of LTE-Advanced system specifications. We also provide some research opening for future breakthrough for DCI messaging.

New Remapping Strategy for PDCCH Scheduling for LTE-Advanced Systems

—In LTE-A, efficient Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) scheduling is fundamental to ensuring not only users’ Quality of Service (QoS) but also bursty data channels. However, the limited resource available for PDCCH has proven to be a major issue that hampers users’ scheduling. By principle, every user equipment (UE) admitted into the network is expected to be scheduled by the control c...

Efficient Control Channel Resource Allocation for VoIP in OFDMA-Based Packet Radio Networks

We propose an efficient control channel resource allocation approach to enhance the performance of voice-over-IP (VoIP) in orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDMA-) based next generation mobile communication systems. As the long-term evolution (LTE) of universal terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN), evolved UTRAN (E-UTRAN) is the first OFDMA-based packet radio network and thus s...

A Comprehensive Analysis of Lte Physical Layer

The 3 rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) introduced Long Term Evolution (LTE) as the 3 rd generation of mobile communication standards. LTE Release 8 describes a mobile communication standard which supports up to 300 Mbps of data transmission in downlink using the OFDM scheme as well as up to 75 Mbps throughput for uplink using the SC-FDMA modulation. In this thesis, an in-depth study of ...

A teletraffic model for the Physical Downlink Control Channel in LTE

Recent advances in mobile handsets have led to new trends in mobile broadband data consumption, with a huge increase of signaling traffic generated by always-connected devices. Thus, a proper planning of control channels in mobile networks is necessary to avoid network capacity problems and provide an appropriate quality of service to the end user. A key issue in network planning is the availab...

LTE multi-cellular system in urban environment: inter-cell interference Impact on the Downlink radio transmission

The fourth-generation networks based on OFDMA (3GPP LTE) (3rd Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution) offer high bit rate and takes into account in their mechanisms the simplicity and efficiency of the radio transmission. But with the volume of traffic constantly increasing, especially in high density population environments, the reuse of bandwidth is the only effective way to incre...
